BVSD Athletics - MS/K8 Template

The MS/K8 template includes a page for each sport offered by the district.  All MS/K8 sports are classified as either intramural sports or interscholastic sports.  Any additional sports that are specific to a school (ex. Ultimate Frisbee) will be classified as an "Activity/Club."  If the school doesn't want to offer all of the district sports, then that sport's page needs to be removed.  This is done by unpublishing the individual MS/K8 sports page AND submitting an IT service request ticket to remove the school code from the Middle School Sports list on the content hub.  For more details on unpublishing a page, please see the Removing/Unpublishing Instruction page.

Each individual MS/K8 sports page uses the "Athletics" Page Layout and includes the fields listed below.  Note that the majority of the information on these sports pages are managed centrally on the content hub and published to all the individual school sites.  Thus very little editing is needed to be done on these pages.

STEP 1:  Upload sports image to the Images Library on the "Athletics" subsite by navigating to that page and clicking on GEAR>Site Content and selecting the Images folder.  See the Working With Images page for details on how to upload photos.

STEP 2:  Edit the page and change/edit the information listed below.  Once finished, you will need to PUBLISH the file.

  • Title - Name of the sport, this set by the district
  • Rollup Image -  This image is initially setup by the district but can be changed.  You will need to navigate to where the images are stored (in "Athletics" Image library) in order to select the correct image.
  • Overview - Brief description (optional).  This is displayed on the top-level page for the sport summary.
  • Grades - What grades are allowed to particpate
  • Type of sport - Intramural vs Interscholastic
  • Season Start/End Dates & Registration Deadline - These are all set by the district and cannot be modified.
  • Coach List - This is queried from the staff profile pages and is dependent upon what is set for the "Middle School Sports" field on the Staff Profile Page.
  • Announcements - Queried from the Athletic Announcement list (Not used)

Once the above page is checked in and published, the final MS/K8 sports page has a nice look to it.  This gives the public all the information needed in order to get the student involved.

MS/K8 Template - Top Level Athletics Page
The sport's name/title, summary/overview (optional), and season start/end dates are listed on the top level athletics page,  All sports are listed as either Intramural or Interscholastic.  In addition to the Sport Name, Season Dates, and Registration Deadline, the Important Information and Registration & Fees sections also contain information that is created & managed by the district through the content hub and is set for all school websites. The webmaster is NOT able to edit any of this information.  If you see something that is incorrect, please submit an IT Service Request to have it changed/fixed.

BVSD Athletics - HS Template

The High School Template has a top level Athletic page that lists all the CHSSA sports with a small circular picture icon and an optional summary/overview text under the icon.  Each icon links to the individual HS sport page (details below).

A link to the HS Athletics calendar is included on this page: Front Range League (CHSSA) Calendar.  Additional content and links can be added to this page by inserting text into the Page Content (at the top of the page) or creating a Content Editor Web Part.  A section for "Athletic Announcements" is included on this page but not currently used.  There are also links to the two pages listed below which contains information that is managed centrally on the content hub and published to all the individual school sites.

  • Athletics Registration & Fees: Includes registration info & costs for a sport plus documents on general fee information.  Also includes a link to RevTrak for payment (this link is defined in the School Profile page).
  • Student Athlete Information: Including links to documents for general athlete info, concussion info, and accident insurance.

High School Individual Athletics Pages

The HS template includes a page for each sport offered by the district.  Any additional sports that are specific to a school (ex. Ultimate Frisbee or Mountain Biking) will be classified as an "Activity/Club."  If the school doesn't want to (or can't) offer all of the district sports, then that sport's page needs to be removed.  This is done by unpublishing the individual HS sports (don't delete it) as shown in the Removing/Unpublishing Instructions page.  No Athletic pages should need to be added as they would have all be added when the template was originally created, assuming they were not deleted.

Each individual HS sports page uses the "HS Main w/ Hero Image" Page Layout and includes the following fields.    For creating and/or editing the page, please see the instuctions below.  Additional information about the sport can be easily added in the Page Content area or by inserting a Content Editor Web Part or a "Links w/out Background color" Web Part.
