About Our School:
Alicia Sanchez International School, a neighborhood school, has also been a fully authorized International Baccalaureate (IB) Primary Years Program School since 2011. Sanchez International integrates BVSD curriculum and the IB framework, providing students with a rich learning experience focusing on inquiry, student-led action and international mindedness.

Our students are receiving the benefits of a wide range of programming resources such as focused and aligned reading, writing and math instruction, and various interventions and extensions.  We also offer a wide variety of after-school tutoring and after-school enrichment opportunities through our Dragon Discovery program and on-site after school care.

A priority for our school is providing a variety of options for family involvement including volunteering, PTA, Parent Leadership Group, and School Accountability Committee.

Our Family Resource and Extended Learning Center helps to meet the needs of the whole child with a variety of supports for students and families. Alicia Sanchez International School is a warm, nurturing neighborhood school where everyone - students, parents, staff and community - join together to ensure success for all students and make a difference in our community and the world.

Program Characteristics:

A Response to Intervention model is utilized to monitor student progress in reading and to provide intensive interventions for students not reading at grade level. Instructional materials include guided reading leveled books, junior great books, real world non-fiction books, and non-fiction magazines and other quality literature to support content area learning.

Principals Message:

Alicia Sanchez International School is a fully authorized International Baccalaureate (IB) Primary Years Program School and a neighborhood school in the heart of Lafayette. As an IB World School, Sanchez International integrates BVSD curriculum, state standards and the IB program, providing a diverse student body with a rich learning experience focused on inquiry, student action and character education. Additionally, a foundational component of IB is teaching students to be responsible citizens through IB attitudes and service of others.

Staff, parents and students find Sanchez International to be a warm and welcoming learning environment yet also rigorous and engaging. While the School Accountability Report reflects a rating based on student achievement on the Colorado Student Assessment Program, the staff, parents and students rate Sanchez International much higher on local surveys in its ability to be responsive to its community. When the student achievement data is disaggregated to analyze cohort improvement, Sanchez International continuously demonstrates that it is closing the gap between both their minority students and English Language Learners and other student groups. According to the Colorado Longitudinal growth mode, Sanchez International students are demonstrating exceptional academic growth.

Sanchez International utilizes Positive Behavior Support and Restorative Justice to manage student behavior.  Additionally, service learning, citizenship development and recognition, numerous after-school activities, and a school-wide anti-bullying program are incorporated to provide a well-rounded educational experience for all students.
