About Our School:
Broomfield High School is truly a community high school. The support given to the school by parents and community members is exceptional. Broomfield High School students’ academic successes are not only the school’s priority, but also the priority of many adults in the community. As a comprehensive high school, Broomfield offers a balanced program of study to meet the various academic needs and interests of its students. Broomfield High School’s course offerings include honors and Advanced Placement courses in many disciplines, fine arts courses and vocationally- focused courses.

A unique atmosphere of cooperation has been established in the Broomfield High School community. Together, the school and community discuss and solve issues that can improve the high school experience for all students. Broomfield High School’s goal is to maintain that growing relationship and continue the tradition of excellence in all areas of the school’s life.

Program Characteristics:
Broomfield High School is a comprehensive high school which has a wide variety of offerings including honors and Advanced Placement courses in many disciplines, fine arts courses, and vocationally focused courses.

Each year we continue to increase advanced offerings to challenge our students. Many students take advantage of our advanced and AP courses to increase their academic knowledge. Sixteen different AP courses were offered to our students during 2014-2015. In addition to our AP program, we offered a wide variety of courses in core and elective areas.

The Special Education Department is an integral part of our school. We have a variety of services for our students. Our multi-intensive program successfully integrates our students into school and community life.

Our ESL program began in 2004, making it possible for second language learners to stay in their community for their high school education. With the support of staff and peers, these students have continued to work on English acquisition while being involved in academics and co-curricular activities.

Tutor time is an essential part of our school program. Every Thursday, teachers are available for students during the school day to get support and extra help on academic work.  We have also created Eagle Learning Center, an after school program to support students with academic needs in the comfortable environment of our Media Center. Freshman Seminar is a program we have implemented to work on transition skills, academic study skills, social skills, and building relationships with adults in our building.  Our freshman students have this dedicated time to work with teachers and upper-class students in a more relaxed atmosphere.

Special Programs and Opportunities
Our students have the opportunity to be involved in a variety of activities:  Co- Curricular Clubs/Activities include: Senior Class, Thespians, Junior Class, Drama Club, Sophomore Class, School Drama Productions, Freshman Class, Eagles’ Cry Newspaper, Diversity Leadership Conferences, Yearbook, Mock Trial, National Honor Society, Pep Band, Winter Guard, Drum-line, Jazz Band, Orchestra, Chamber Orchestra, Student Council, Concert Choir, Mixed Choir, Select Choir, FBLA, FCCLA, Spanish Club, French Club, and German Club.

We have the following fall, winter and spring athletic opportunities for students: Boys/Girls Basketball, Baseball, Boys/Girls Cross Country, Football, Boys/Girls Golf, Gymnastics, Boys/Girls Lacrosse, Boys/Girls Soccer, Alpine Skiing, Nordic Skiing, Softball, Boys/Girls Swimming, Boys/Girls Tennis, Boys/Girls Track, Volleyball, and Wrestling. Additionally, we have two spirit squads, poms and cheers, with approximately 25 girls on each team.

Principals Message:
Welcome to Broomfield High School

“IT’S A GREAT DAY TO BE AN EAGLE” is a theme heard throughout our school and our community. Broomfield High School continues to succeed in all areas of school life and our students take pride in their school. From academics, to music, to theatre, to athletics, the Broomfield Eagles are continually recognized for their achievements at district, league, and state levels. I am thankful for the great opportunities that have been given to me to serve the students at Broomfield High School.

Over the past decade, we have been involved with construction projects which have improved our campus.  We opened our new “north” wing in the fall of 2009, completing a $20.7 million project. With the successful passing of the 2014 BVSD bond, Broomfield High was awarded an estimated project budget of $18.7 million to continue making improvements to our school.  As of fall 2018, we are proud to have all projects completed. Our building has been transformed and looks nothing like it did in 1959 when we opened.

Academic excellence and co-curricular involvement are expected. Teachers set high goals for our students and support them in reaching these goals. Students are encouraged to participate in many activities and not limit themselves to one facet of school life. While we enjoy celebrating athletic and activity successes with new trophies and banners, I continue to challenge our students to strive for unparalleled academic excellence.  I am constantly encouraged by the commitment of teachers, parents, and community to create the best environment for all students to feel welcomed and be encouraged to meet their academic goals.

The support of parents and community members has helped us create a setting where issues can be raised and solutions jointly created. We welcome new families and staff to join our Broomfield family as we continue to support our Eagles throughout high school. The people inside the building have created a positive environment for all who attend each day. “WE ARE BROOMFIELD” is another cherished chant heard at many events. We are a community school and function as a Broomfield family. The academic successes of our students are positive reflections of our community’s focus.

Mission statement:
The challenge for schools today is to meet the needs of students for tomorrow – to ready our youth for living and working beyond high school in a world that will be different from both the present and past.

We believe the high school experience is a vital, transitional stage in students’ lives as they move from adolescence into adulthood. During this time, skills, attitudes, and aspirations for life are forming. Our mission at Broomfield High School is to further develop the intellectual, vocational, creative, aesthetic, and physical capabilities of our students. Our commitment is to: provide the best possible learning opportunities for students; help students develop the knowledge, skills, and responsibility needed for a changing world beyond the high school years; and assist students in their emotional and social growth. We believe that a quality staff is the key to providing quality education. We are dedicated to the development of professional and personal skills of all of our staff members. We encourage the cooperation and involvement of parents and other community members in our educational process.
