Coal Creek Elementary resides in the quaint town of Louisville, Colorado, which is just southeast of greater Boulder. Named as the best Small Town to Live by Money Magazine in 2015, with our Colorado sunshine, 1,800 acres of open space, and both the Rocky Mountains and the city of Denver just a short drive away, Louisville is hard to beat.
As part of the Boulder Valley School District, Coal Creek School has an impressive history of academic excellence in educating children and youth in our community for over three decades. We have been recognized as a "John Irwin School of Excellence" numerous times, an achievement that is only awarded to the top schools in our state, most recently being honored in 2014.
Our faculty is dedicated to working with parents and school leadership to ensure the development of the whole child; academically, physically, and socially. Our curriculum and instructional program is based on work of Dr. Arthur Costa's Habits of Mind framework, which helps students to grow in their problem solving skills and experience increased success in school and peer relationships.
We are excited that you are considering Coal Creek for your child's public school education!
Coal Creek Elementary maintains a proud tradition in
Louisville as a “neighborhood school,” serving 450 students, K-5. Rated

Coal Creek Elementary School provides academic programs that support and enhance education for the variety of learners we serve. In addition to the balanced literacy program, a math block has been established at the upper grades for extension and acceleration through the curriculum. Innovative programs in the arts and physical education are also offered at Coal Creek.
During the 2010-11 school year, our goals were created within the areas of math achievement, equity, and student climate. An additional listing of key instructional programs follows:

- Our new, “Positive Behavior Support” (PBS) plan will be launched,”Coal Creek ROCKS!” This stands for: R(respect) O(owning it – responsibility) C(cooperation) K(kindess) S(safety).
